A class is the container for everything else — sessions, materials, quizzes, students and fees. Create one from Classes → New Class.

Only three fields are required: name, subject and fee. The rest can wait, but they're what makes a stranger choose your class over the one below it.

Cover image

Optional, shown as a banner on your class page. A photo of your whiteboard, your class in session, or a clean graphic with the subject and year all work.

Class name

The headline. Make it specific enough that a student knows instantly whether it's for them.

Good:

  • A/L Combined Maths — Theory 2027
  • Grade 11 Science — Revision (Sinhala medium)
  • O/L English — Weekend Batch

Weak: Maths Class, 2027, Chamari's Class.

Include the level and the year or batch. Students scanning a list read the name and nothing else.

Subject

The subject on its own — Combined Maths, Chemistry, English — used for filtering and search. Keep it plain; put the detail in the class name.

Monthly fee

In rupees, per month. Enter 0 for a free class.

The fee is what a student is asked to transfer when they enrol for a month. You can change it later and it applies to future months — fees already paid are not affected.

Setting 0 makes the class free to join. Students enrol instantly with no receipt and no approval from you, which is a good way to run a trial or a public revision session.

Grade / Level

Choose from Primary through University, including the A/L streams. This drives filtering on the browse page, so a student narrowing to A/L Science will only find your class if it's tagged.

Optional, but leave it blank and you're invisible to anyone using filters.

Medium

Sinhala, English or Tamil — the language you teach in. Students filter on this heavily. Set it.

Schedule

Pick the days and times the class runs. This shows on your class page and public profile so students can check it fits before enrolling.

The schedule is a description for students. It doesn't create sessions — those are separate, and you add them from the Sessions tab so each one can have its own date, topic, meeting link and recording.

Location

Where the class happens:

  • A physical address or hall — Kandy Town, Main Street
  • Online (Zoom) or Online (Teams)
  • Both, if you run a hybrid — Colombo 7 / Online

Students use this to decide whether they can attend at all, so be specific about the area even if you'd rather not publish an exact address.

Description

Two or three short paragraphs. What you cover, who it's for, what a student gets.

Worth including:

  • The syllabus or units covered
  • Whether recordings are available afterwards
  • What's included — notes, past papers, quizzes
  • Any prerequisite

This is the only place a student can hear your voice before paying. A blank description is the commonest reason a good class gets no enrolments.

Tags / Batches

Free-form labels for your own organisation and for filtering: 2027 batch, weekend, revision, Grade 10-11.

Useful once you're running several classes at once — you'll be glad of them when you have three batches of the same subject.

After you create it

You land in the class workspace. See The class workspace for what each tab does.

A new class is active and visible immediately. If you're still setting it up and don't want students finding it yet, switch it off in Settings and switch it back on when you're ready.

How many classes you can create

The Free plan allows 3 active classes. Switching a class off frees a slot.

Right now Edugo is running a launch offer where every Pro and Pro+ feature is free for all teachers, so this limit isn't being enforced. See Plans for what changes when it ends.
