The Resources tab holds two different things: lessons, which are your chapters, and materials, which are the actual files and links.
Read the month rule further down even if you skip the rest. It is the single biggest source of "why can't my student see this?" questions.
Lessons
A lesson is a topic or unit — Unit 1: Kinematics, Paper Class 3,
Trigonometry. They're an ordering device, not content in themselves.
Create lessons first, then file materials, quizzes and sessions under them. Students see the course as a sequence of topics instead of one long pile of PDFs.
You control the order, so put them in teaching order rather than the order you happened to upload.
You don't have to use lessons. Materials with no lesson show up as General materials. For a short class that's fine; for a year-long syllabus it gets messy fast.
Adding a material
Title — what the student sees. Week 3 lecture notes, not scan_004.pdf.
Type — four kinds:
| Type | For |
|---|---|
| Link / URL | Anything — a Drive folder, an article, an exercise sheet |
| A direct link to a hosted PDF | |
| Video (YouTube etc.) | A YouTube, Vimeo or other embeddable video |
| Live Online Class | A Zoom, Meet or Teams meeting link |
URL — where the material actually lives. Edugo stores the link, not the file, so host the file somewhere first — Google Drive, Dropbox, or YouTube for video.
If you're linking a Drive file, set its sharing to "anyone with the link" before pasting. A restricted link shows your students a permission-request screen, and they'll assume the class is broken rather than the link.
Lesson (optional) — which chapter it belongs under.
Attach to a class session (optional) — ties it to a specific session, so students find it with that lesson in their schedule.
Month it belongs to — see below.
Description (optional) — one line on what it covers.
The month rule
Every material belongs to a month, and that month's fee is what unlocks it.
A student who paid for August opens August's materials. A student who didn't, doesn't.
The month is worked out in this order:
- The month you picked on the form, if you picked one
- Otherwise, the month of the session you attached it to
- Otherwise, the month you uploaded it
Leaving the month on Auto is right almost every time — you upload this month's notes this month.
You'd set it deliberately when you're backfilling: uploading last term's notes in September but wanting June's payers to have them. Pick June, and it lands where it belongs.
Every material in the list shows its resolved month, so you can always check where something landed.
The 14-day grace window
There's one softening rule worth knowing, because it explains a confusing symptom.
Material for the current month is visible to every enrolled student during the first 14 days of that month, whether or not they've paid. From the 15th, unpaid students lose access until they pay.
It exists so a student who pays on the 10th isn't locked out of the first week of class. But it means a student can tell you they could see a PDF last week and can't now — and nothing is broken. They're past day 14 and haven't paid.
Past months have no grace. Unpaid means locked, immediately.
When a student says they can't see something
Check, in this order:
- Which month is the material filed under? The Resources list shows it.
- Has that student paid for that month? The Students tab shows Paid / Overdue / Never paid.
- What day is it? Before the 15th, current-month content is open to everyone enrolled — so if they can't see it, the material is probably filed under a different month than you think.
Nearly every case is a material filed under the wrong month, or a student who hasn't paid. If neither fits, contact us.
Free plan limit
Free allows 10 materials per class. The form is replaced by a notice when you hit it.
Right now every Pro and Pro+ feature is free for all teachers under the launch offer, so the cap isn't being enforced.
Getting the structure right
- Create your lessons in teaching order, before uploading anything
- Upload materials as you teach, leaving the month on Auto
- Give every file a title a student would recognise
- Backfill old content with the month set deliberately
A student opening your class in week one should see the shape of the whole course. That's what the lesson list is for.
