Session recordings

Attach a recording to the session it belongs to, so students find it in the right place.

A recording attached to its session sits exactly where a student looks for it — under the class they missed, in the right week, numbered within its lesson.

The same video added as a loose material is just another row in a list.

Attaching one

On the Sessions tab, each session card has a recording section.

  • Pro+ — upload the video file directly as a protected recording
  • Any plan — paste a YouTube or other video link

Give it a title students will recognise. Trigonometry — Session 3 beats Recording.

One recording per session. Attaching a new one replaces the old.

Lesson numbering

If the session is filed under a lesson, its recording is numbered by where it falls in that lesson — students see Trigonometry #3 of 8.

The numbering is worked out from session dates, so it stays correct on its own. Reschedule a session and the recordings renumber; there's no list to maintain.

This is the main reason to bother filing sessions under lessons. A student catching up sees an ordered sequence instead of eight videos with similar names.

Who can watch

The same month rule as every other material: the recording belongs to the month of its session, and that month's fee unlocks it.

So a student who paid for August can watch August's recordings, including sessions they missed. A student who stopped paying in July can't watch August, even for a class they attended.

Do it the same day

The habit that matters: mark the session completed and attach the recording in the same sitting, right after class.

Leave it a week and you're matching six video files against six sessions from memory. Do it while you still know which is which and it takes thirty seconds.

Backfilling old recordings

Uploading a term's worth at once? Attach each to its actual session — the month follows the session date, so June's session gets June's access even though you're uploading in September.

If a recording has no session to attach to, add it as an ordinary material and set its month deliberately so it unlocks for the right payers.
